Overview
A Proxy is a tool that allows users to create a communication channel between sensemetrics and physical devices that are connected to THREADs. This tool is useful when connecting devices to other software (e.g. GeoMoS) or when troubleshooting specific sensors.
Adding a Proxy
Ensure that the THREAD is turned on and that the device or sensor is connected to the Thread via one of the Thread Device ports.
1. Navigate to the Connectivity Module.
2. Press the button directly on a THREAD to add a Device to it. If your THREAD does not appear here, you may still need to Add Your THREAD as a Connection.
3. You may also add a device from the button in the Devices & Sensors Section.
4. Begin by typing in "Proxy" and select the name once it autocompletes in the search box (example below).
Proxy Device Configuration
The Device Configuration page provides additional configuration options and information about the proxy connection.
1. Power DEVICE- The user can select between 12V or 15V to power the proxy device.
2. PROXY TCP ADDRESS- This is the port of the device being connected. If you will be configuring a sensor on other software, this TCP address can be used to connect virtually to the device.
3. DEVICE NAME- Users can modify the Device Name. This will change the name of the device that populates across the webpage.
4. LOCATION- The Lat, Long, and Elevation can be entered here.
Note: Whatever information that is entered here will determine where the sensors populate when using a Georeference Spatial profile.
5. NOTES- Notes for the sensor can be added here.
6. Apply your changes by clicking the button.
Configuring Data Rate Sensor
After applying the Device configuration in Step 6 above, you will be directed back to the Connectivity tab. Within the Devices & Sensors window, the new Proxy device will be displayed. Clicking on the Proxy Data Rate Sensor will open the modification window for the Sensor.
1. Sensor Name- The user can change the sensor's name, which will become the name displayed in modules across the application.
2. Serial Number- Input the serial number of the Proxy Sensor.
3. Sampling Interval- The sampling interval for these sensors is configured via a slider bar, and can be adjusted between 60 seconds and 60 minutes.
4. Sensor Location- The user can input the sensor's location and elevation. This location information will allow the sensor to be displayed within the Spatial mapping feature.
5. Notes- Notes can be added here.
6. Click to save these configuration changes.
Connecting GeoMos via the Proxy
The two things you will need to connect through the Proxy are the Proxy Host Address and TCP Address. Now that the Proxy has been created, find it in Devices and open the Device Details by clicking on the Device name. Here you will find the TCP Port assigned to the Proxy.
In this example, you will see that the Proxy TCP Address assigned is 42314.
The Host Address will be the address that you use to access your sensemetrics server. For example, sensemetrics cloud is app.sensemetrics.com. An enterprise server will be the IP Address assigned to the server.
Now that you have gathered this information, you are ready to connect via the Proxy. When setting up your AMTS in sensor manager, choose to set up the communication settings using Radio Link and a TCP/IP Connection. Enter the Host Address and TCP Port connecting you to your device.
These settings entered will allow GeoMoS to talk to the AMTS via the Proxy Device connection on the THREAD.
