Overview
In some situations, it is interesting and highly recommended to archive a device and its associated sensors. When it is necessary to transfer devices or save data from a dead sensor, it is possible to archive connections and devices to store that data, avoiding losing it and also reducing the project's token count.
This article will cover:
- Archiving a Connection
- Archiving a Device / Sensor
- Legacy Devices / Sensors
- Archived Connections and Devices / Sensors
Archiving a Connection
When archiving a connection, all the devices and sensors wired to it will be archived. To archive a connection, such as a Thread, Strand, Geonet or GeoMos, please follow the steps below.
1 - Click over the connection's name on the left-hand side list.
2 - Visit the device's configuration page.
3 - Hit the kebab icon (3 dots) on the top right corner and select "Archive Devices".
Archiving a Device / Sensor
Devices and sensors such as dataloggers, multiplexers, Shape Arrays, piezometers, aqua trolls and many others can be also archived by following the steps below.
1 - Click over the device's or sensor's name on the right-hand side list.
2 - Visit the device's or sensor's configuration page.
3 - Hit the kebab icon (3 dots) on the top right corner and select "Archive".
Legacy Devices / Sensors
Some devices and sensors may have legacy configuration pages and show a different "archive" button, highlighted in the image below.
Archived Connections and Devices / Sensors
Any archived connections, devices or sensors will either generate or become a gray connection with all the associated devices and sensors, as shown in the image below.
All the archived assets and their data can also be used in the app's modules, such as dashboards, graphs, reports and others.
