Overview
The Virtual Tilt Array creates virtual copies of each individual tilt sensor including all observations. The virtual sensors are then able to be attached as segments on a Virtual Tilt Array device. SAA and IPI algorithms can then be applied to the tilt sensors as if they were a physical connected IPI array, allowing the user to access additional calculated metrics typically only available to IPIs and SAAs.
Adding the Data Import Device
This section of the article will guide the user in adding a Virtual Tilt Array to a sensemetrics project.
Login to the sensemetrics cloud server, app.sensemetrics.com, or your privately hosted Enterprise solution at the IP Address assigned to the appliance.
1. Connectivity- Click the "Connectivity" module at the top of the page.
2. Add Connection- Press the "+Connection" button in the Connections Column.
3. Data Import Connection- In the Configure New Connection window illustrated below select "Data Import" from the option in the left bar.
4. Data Import- Click "Select" on the Data Import pop-out, and then click "Next" in the following window. A new Data Import connection will be created, as illustrated below.
Adding the Virtual Tilt Array Device
Once the Data Import connection has been made, the Virtual Tilt Array Device can be added.
1. Add Device- There are 2 options for adding a Device, choosing the icon next to a connection will auto-populate the new device straight on to that connection. The will need a Connection configured once selected.
2. Device Lookup- Type in "Virtual Shape Array" in the Device look up box, choose the Data Import connection to associate your Virtual Shape Array with, and input a time window. The time window for the Virtual Shape Array sets its sampling interval.
Configuring the Virtual Tilt Array Device
1. Tilt Array Device Configuration- Now that the Virtual Tilt Array has been built, it needs to be configured. To do so, click on the device from the connectivity page and navigate to the edit configuration page by clicking the "Edit Configuration" icon on the left side of the screen.
2. Edit Configuration- Click on the blue "Edit Configuration" button to open the segment configuration pop-out window illustrated above. In the Edit Configuration window, select the number of segments for the Virtual Tilt Array and the desired unit of measurement for the configuration at the top of the window. The next configuration steps include setting the fixed end, the mode, and the dominant axis. Once those configurations have been complete, add Tilt sensors to correspond with each segment and apply any offsets necessary. When finished, click "Apply".
Configured Device
The Virtual Tilt Array device will now populate tilt segments and incorporate data from the tilt sensors that were selected during configuration.
The Virtual Tilt Array can now be graphed in the X/Y plot section of the data module.
